Who are the instructors?
All our computer courses are taught by CompUSA certified computer training professionals.
Where are the classes held?
Each course is held at the Training Bureau which is located at 9601 NW 58th Street, Miami, Florida. The actual computer lab is inside Building 300 which is located on the east side of the facility.
What classes can I attend?
Every class is available to every employee of the Miami-Dade Police Department, regardless if you have taken the course previously or not.
Approval from your entity as well as the Training Bureau Commander is necessary. Submit an MPI-24 via your chain of command.
Which classes have space left in them?
Classes are filled on a first come-first serve basis. No exceptions. Register as early as possible. If you wish to call and ask questions specifically about seat availability please call the Computer Based Training Unit at 305-418-3031.
How long is each class?
In the past our computer courses were sixteen hours long. CompUSA teaches there classes in one full / intensive hands-on day so each class will start at 8 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.
Why is there no class for _______?
Anticipating the computer training needs of the Miami-Dade Police Department's vast personnel is our goal, but we are not perfect. Is there space for me in the class?
The available seat column is updated daily so if you see availability simply complete the MPI, get it approved, then fax it to the Computer Based Training Unit at 305-418-3029. We will update the column by the following work day.
How will I know if I was selected to attend the class?
The seats are reserved on a first-come / first-served basis. Prior to the class, all attendees will be notified of their selection using the phone number provided on the MPI form.
Can a Bureau other than Training use the lab?
Yes. The lab is available to other entities within the Miami-Dade Police Department for training related purposes. Please call the Computer Based Training Unit at 305-418-3031 for additional details.
